2021.12.08 16:36 kvs666 Getting started
I (23M) am basically just getting started in life. I have no higher education, but I’m not stupid either.
I live with my gf (24F) in a rental apartment (800/month). We’re saving up to buy our first property. We save €1000 a month in our joint account, in which we now have around €15.000. My personal savings account had around €3000 in it.
We don’t make a lot of money (net about 1800 each) and are paying of a car loan for the next 3 years (400/month).
I invest about €150/month in ETF’s (at least), €990/year in my pension fund and a few (very few) stocks here and there on my own.
With the low intrests all banks are hyping their investment formulas. Personally I’m a fan of Argenta.
Do you think it’d be a good idea to go to Argenta with €500/1000 of my personal savings and let them invest it in some funds?

2021.12.08 16:36 Hold_Her_Hand Stop. Diagnosing. Your Spouse. (And stop diagnosing other people)
Rule 4: Do not tell someone to just leave the relationship.
- The purpose of this subreddit is to give mutual support and insight amongst people whose goal is saving and improving damaged relationships.
This being one of the core defining principals of this subreddit helps to separate it from the other relationship-based subs, which are dumpster fires of broken people dishing broken advice.
But, some of the habits remain. One being trying to tie a diagnosis to behaviors. This is not conducive to creating healthy relationships. This is childish tantrum-throwing, and enabling bad marital behavior.
A surefire way to destroy your relationship is to diagnose your partner—in your head, at least—with a personality disorder or other “character disease.”...
Unfortunately, a cottage industry of self-help books exists to encourage you to do just that. Some are written by advocates or “survivors,” who describe how you should react to your partner, using incendiary and contemptuous adjectives—congenitally manipulative, opportunistic, cunning, exploitive, wolf in sheep's clothing, and the like. Others are written by therapists who psychoanalyze the partner with various interpretations of why he or she makes you feel bad. Both groups describe the insidious behavior of the personality disorder, not so much to inform and enlighten as to appeal to the reader’s victim-identity and self-righteousness. They typically supplement their superficial descriptions with general symptom checklists, without emphasizing that a preponderance of those traits—not just a few—must be present through adolescent developmental stages for a valid diagnosis and that a valid diagnosis can only come after careful, objective examination of the person being diagnosed.
The desire to hook clients into psychotherapy sometimes overrides the ethics of therapists who diagnose their clients’ partners, based entirely on third-party descriptions. (It hooks in clients because they long to explore what’s wrong with their partners.) I've had two dozen couples referred to me in the past year alone who were each diagnosed by their partner’s individual therapist with a personality disorder. The most common combination, of course, is a narcissistic man married to a borderline woman, though variations have come from more creative therapists with the temerity to diagnose without examination. In no case were these third-party diagnoses valid and certainly not helpful. Anyone who sees a distressed couple conjointly and the parties individually knows that neither are likely to present with a personality disorder individually but conjointly both do. It's the pervasive attack-defend and withdrawal-demand patterns between them and the fear-shame dynamic that rules their relationship that must be changed, a fact lost in the fog of dueling diagnoses.
Almost always, the motivation to diagnose loved ones is not to sympathize but to blame from a position of moral superiority—a powerful driving force in the age of entitlement. If you have an urge to diagnose your partner, you cannot at the same time have genuine self-compassion, which would give you insight into your pain, along with motivation to heal and improve; blame neither heals nor improves. Neither can you experience the genuine compassion for your partner that would give you insight into his/her deeper experience, which is necessary to evaluate the possibility that he/she can heal and improve sufficiently to repair your interactive pattern. The urge to diagnose makes you see yourself and other people too superficially. It makes it impossible to see others apart from how you feel about them, which you are likely to find on some Internet checklist of personality disorders.Diagnosing Your Spouse | Psychology Today
More often than not, upon an initial consultation with a client, I hear some of the following remarks:Marriage Troubles: Diagnosing a Spouse - Sara Freed
My spouse has OCD.
My spouse has ADD.
My spouse is manic-depressive.
My spouse is bipolar.
And the list goes on and on.
When I first began working with couples, the husband and the wife would each tell me – separately – that their spouse had some type of diagnosis. Interestingly, that diagnosis was frequently the same for both spouses.
You can imagine my shock at this phenomenon. Not only was I baffled by the number of mentally ill couples sitting in front of me, but I also couldn’t believe that both spouses would end up with the exact same condition!
Coincidence? Not so much.
With a majority of my clients, I soon realized that these supposed mental conditions weren’t diagnosed by a qualified doctor – they were diagnosed by their own spouse! And unless that spouse is a trained physician, these aren’t actual diagnoses at all.
Diagnosing a spouse and wrongly accusing them of having a condition – which they don’t actually have – severely impairs the relationship. And when one spouse knows that their partner thinks of them in a certain manner – which is not true – the pain inflicted is very deep indeed.
Diagnosing a spouse of some kind of condition is a form of escape. By saying our spouse has OCD or ADD or whatever the Diagnosis of the Month is, we can then blame all of our problems on that condition and – in some cases – even use it as a basis for divorce. We can escape the actual culprit of our marriage troubles.
Also, it’s always easier to focus on the faults or negative aspects of others because it makes it easier for use to be in the right. We tend to feel more secure when we have a name for whatever issues are causing our strife. So we name it on our own, assign the condition to our spouse, and wipe our hands of our own involvement.

2021.12.08 16:36 AnyPrune Vising schools as an undergrad
I'm travelling to Nashville and would like to visit Vanderbuilt, however I was wondering how the visitation process works as an undergrad rather than a high schooler? I am not far down the grad school research/application process and wasn't sure how it worked to visit a college as a prospective grad student and wanted to reach out to this thread for any advice/input. Is it wise to go on the general tours for high schoolers? At what point in the process of considering/applying to grad schools do you email professors specifically?
Thanks for any help you could offer:)

2021.12.08 16:36 rustrustrust Why is the Clan System So Poorly Designed?
This is just about the gifts. I swapped from a super casual clan to a slightly less casual clan recently. My new one gets a lot more rewards clan chest-wise since everyone is more active. That's great, but as a side effect of that activity, the Gifting experience has become total bullshit.
It's not hard to see why that is - you can request 1 gift of 3 items or 3/5 shards or 2 gems, then when your clan activity reaches a certain point you can request again. You can gift 10 times, and you can request 4-10 things total. Unless everyone requests 5 shards twice, there will be many gifts left 'unclaimed' over the course of a week. Even that might not be an issue, but of course, if you have gifts left to give your clan quests will sometimes be the gifting quest - which you have to reroll because you likely unable to complete it.
Why is it like this?!11
Has this been brought up to Habby by people that aren't random Redditors? Do they care? Are they still having trouble understanding that 10 > 6?

2021.12.08 16:36 TeaMuzik I set up a lunch date with a colleague whom I'm not interested in dating. What should I do?
I've been working from home for several months but go into the office occasionally. Last time I was in, I met a colleague for the first time whom I chatted with in a friendly manner, although he did ask a lot of "getting to know you" type personal questions. He asked to have lunch with me that day and I said sure. We chatted for about an hour. Then he asked me if I might want to get lunch again soon and I said sure. We exchanged work emails. Now we've set up a lunch for next week together as we're both in the office that day. I didn't mention I have a boyfriend but I wish I would have. Now after thinking about it I'm concerned the only reason he wanted to have lunch with me was to see if I'm single and I'm not sure how to let him know I'm not without causing some awkwardness. As someone extremely non-confrontational, what's a good way to handle this? Should I tell him before lunch via email or during lunch that I have a bf? I could also be way off here and potentially it really *is* just friends-only lunch, but I've never once been asked to do anything with a guy without him having a potential motive behind it, to date or otherwise.
